It increases the warming capacity with at least 10% by reducing radiant heat loss. The warming blankets may reduce heat loss by up to 80% in the perioperative environment. 5. The warming blanket can be used for the postoperative phase and is an all-in-one solution to keep the patient warm during the entire perioperative period. |
WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO WARM THE PATIENT?
A constant body temperature between 36 °C and 37,5 °C is important. The body system will take care of thermoregulation, but not when this function is shut down by anesthesia.
If the core temperature is too low, this may result in a greater risk of infection. Hypothermia may cause complications and with that increase costs.
When the operation under general anaesthesia lasts more than 3 hours or the general operation lasts more than 2 hours, hypothermia is easy to occur.
